Elizabeth Nanninga

Elizabeth Nanninga has moved back to Brighton and is an acrylic painter who focuses mostly on peace-filled landscapes; trying to capture on canvas God’s beautiful creation using her own photography. Her motto is “to paint to notice beauty and invite to rest”.

Elizabeth started her artistic journey as a photographer who developed a successful business called ‘Word Art” where she took pictures in nature of the alphabet and organized them into words. Later on, she broaden her scope to include painting; first in watercolour and then in acrylics.

Having lived in Brighton from 2003-2013; she was an active member of the local Brighton Arts Council as Treasurer and help launch the Art Gallery close to Presquile. Elizabeth moved to Ottawa for 10 years (2013-2023)and pursued her talent and showed her works; both photography and paintings in many galleries and art shows. She also offered classes and taught adults and children. Paint Nights, Birthday parties and 4-6 week classes of ART 101,102,103 were very popular.

Being a teacher and taking workshops helped to broaden and deepen Elizabeth’s own skill level and she used this to grow her own style of painting and encourage many fellow artists in their artistic journeys. Elizabeth enjoys the challenge of trying to capture the lights and darks in her paintings for a more dramatic scene.
